Uncle Josh comes to visit

Uncle Josh came to visit Jackson Monday-Tuesday of this week. Although this picture doesn't indicate it, Jack loved Uncle Josh! They played in the driveway, in the backyard and climbed trees. Jackson was just sad here that Uncle Josh had to leave for the airport shortly! More pictures here.

Bath time

Bath time is a bit of a crap shoot. He's usually ok with the bath, but not always with the rinsing of the hair or getting out of the bath. This was the one time when he enjoyed the whole experience.

Reminiscing about the days when I had more hair and weighed less than double digits

Another first

Saturday was also the first day that Jackson sat in his bumbo seat. We probably should have broken this out much earlier because it's a bit of a tight squeeze at this point. The seat belt won't even fit around his tummy!

Found it!

On Saturday morning when I went into Jackson's room, this is what I found.......The good thing is he is able to self-soothe, the bad thing is that I have a thumb sucker on my hands now! He hasn't quite figured out that he should close his other fingers so that he doesn't poke himself in the eyes.

What a day!

Yesterday we had a jam packed day that included.....

-Me going to have blood taken to test that the diabetes is gone. I fainted, but thankfully Jack was fast asleep and the poor lady taking my blood didn't have to deal with him too.

-Going to Jackson's two month appt where he got 4 shots. I had to step out of the room so I didn't faint again at the sight of a needle. Adam and him bonded over the shots and Jack did great - only a tiny bit of crying that was over by the time they got back to the waiting room within minutes of me leaving.

-Buying Jackson a crib off the floor at a baby store since it takes 2-4 months to receive if you order one. It's coming today to be set up so soon Jack will be sleeping in a big crib which will be able to accommodate his big body.

-Going to the nursery to get plants and veggies for the house/garden

-Giving Amanda a tour of our new digs

-Going to the first kickball game of the season. Our team, the Sofa Kings, all got to meet Jackson for the first time. I was also happy to go from having a kickball in my belly to kicking one in a game - felt great to get out!

2 Month Update

Weight: 16 lbs ("off the charts")

Length: 25.5 inches (95th percentile)
Normal weight and length: At 2 months babies usually range from 20.75 inches long and 8.5 pounds (10th percentile) to 23 inches long and 12.5 pounds (90th percentile). Needless to say, Jack is the Beast of the East.

Visitors: Rachel Reinhart and my godmother Kate Dall both spent the day with me.

Sleeping patterns: I am sleeping really well at night and my mommy is so happy. I usually go to bed around 9 or 10 and wake up only once before 5 am. During the day, I usually take a 3 hour nap and smaller cat naps inbetween.

My Likes: Looking at all the interesting things around me, smiling when people talk to me, cooing and squealing, looking at my black and white book

My Dislikes: Tummy time. I mean, how am I suppose to lift my head with this big Buddha belly in the way?

Other milestones: First social smile, first coo and squeal, first ride on an airplane, first baseball game (Atlanta Braves vs. Chicago Cubs)

Trips: We went to Atlanta April 7 -11 because daddy had a business meeting there.

Looking forward to in the next month: Going on my whirlwind trip through Wisconsin, getting baptised, sleeping in my new crib

Hotlanta, baby!

Last Wednesday Jackson and I went on a business trip with Adam to Atlanta. It was Jack's first flight at almost two months old and he did great! On the way down there, he slept pretty much from the moment we left our house until we touched down in Atlanta. I didn't have to feed or change him once! While we were there we did pretty much everything that we would have done before Jack - went to the Aquarium, Braves vs. Cubs game (video below of Jack's first baseball game), Stone Mt., Botanical Gardens, the Zoo, World of Coke and even a French restaurant (he again slept the entire time).

We also spent lots of time with Adam's business contact, Steve, and his wife Diana and their (almost) 3 year old Jamie. Jamie loved Jack and if I had a quarter for every time she said "He's so silly" I would be able to buy Jack diapers for the next year. She was adorable (as you will see in the pictures). The flight back on Sunday was fairly smooth, although he didn't sleep the entire way. I'm just happy he didn't have any problem with his ears popping.

All in all, it was a great trip. Link to pictures here. And video of the ball game below.

Easter bunny

We had a nice little first Easter with Jackson. In the morning we went with Auntie Andra to Buckley's for pj brunch and sat out on the patio because it was a beautiful day. In the afternoon, we went for a nice long walk through Brandywine Park to look at the trees. And if a picture doesn't speak a thousand words, Jackson hated his bunny hat (which was way too small).

Welcome home!

Here's our new home!
