3 month update

Today is 11.12.13 and Vivian is 14 pounds! She's good with numbers like that.

Weight: 14 lbs 0 oz

Length: 23.5 inches

Sleeping/eating patterns: I slept one night for 9 hours.  Mommy was so happy, but not happy that I've only done that once.  My typical pattern is to go to bed at 7 pm, get up around 1or 2 and then again at 4 am.  We finally get our day started around 7 am.  So, not too bad, but hopefully sleeping through the night consistently will happen soon.

My Likes: Baths.  Laying on my activity mat and looking at my guys.  Sometimes I even try to roll over onto my belly, but only make it onto my side.  I have been kicking my legs a lot, both like I'm riding a bicycle and also bringing both knees towards my belly and then slamming both legs down at the same time.  It's how I wake mommy up in the middle of the night.  I've been turning myself 90 degrees in my bed too.  I'm busy, busy, busy and not so much of a cuddler, but mommy did come home one day to find me sleeping on daddy's chest.  And I really like to talk and coo and smile and giggle, especially when mommy kisses my belly.

My Dislikes: Riding in the carseat if I'm not tired.  I let mommy know it too.

Other milestones:  Mommy put me in the bumbo seat for the first time when I turned 3 months.  I did really good, and didn't even fuss like my older brother did!  For Halloween, I also went to mommy's work so she could show me off and Jackson could get way too much candy.

Trips:  We made a surprise visit to Aunt Milly and Uncle Jason's house in Virginia.  Grandma and Grandpa Porter were there visiting and everyone was so surprised that we were there!

Looking forward to in the next month:  Taking my first flight to Paris to meet Aunt Andra, Uncle Jean Marc and cousins Vox and Anna.  We will be there for Thanksgiving.

2 Month Update

Everyone says I look like mommy.  Here she is at 2 months old.  What do you think?

Weight: 12 lbs 9 oz (90th percentile)

Length: 23 inches (75 percentile)

Visitors:  G-Pop came to visit!  We had fun hanging out with him for a few days.

Sleeping/eating patterns: Mommy has been happy because I am pretty good sleeper and seem to know my days from my nights.  I'll sleep for a good 4-6 hour stretch right when I go to bed around 7.

My Likes: Sucking my thumb!

My Dislikes: All of my two month shots (4 in total), but I only cried for a few seconds.  I'm a tough girl!  The pediatrician said I was a very healthy, busy girl.  She thought I was very strong too.

Other milestones:  I started to give social smiles right around 6 weeks.  Found my thumb! Just like Jackson, I'm a thumb sucker.  Mommy and daddy closed on our new house on Oct 11.  We went there to have pizza even though we hadn't moved in yet.  I'm looking forward to my own pink bedroom!

Looking forward to in the next month: Moving to my new house, Halloween and a surprise trip!

Missy Moo and Lovey Loo

Everyone asks what kind of older brother Jackson is and the answer is "great!" He pays just enough attention to her, not too little and not too much.  He loves to give her his dee dee and tell "him" that "he's cute."  Apparently he hasn't learned about pronouns yet in school.  For awhile, one of his favorite things to do was strip down to his undies to be "like a baby" and lay next to her on the blanket.  He's full of kisses and will often tell me to bring her over to him so he can see her.  Our little Lovey Loo loves to call his sister Missy Moo and that's what he tells new people her name is....oops!

Grandma Honey visits

Grandma Honey came to visit Vivian for the first time at the end of August.  She got in lots of snuggle time with her and lots of fun time with Jackson, going to the Brandywine zoo, to get all of Jackson's soccer gear and also to the Philadelphia Children's Museum.

Grandma & Grandpa Porter Visit Recap

Here is a little (overdue) recap from when Grandma and Grandpa Porter were here to help with Vivian's arrival.

No surprise, it was a very busy visit since they arrived on Saturday afternoon and Vivian was born on Monday morning. During the week and a half that they were here, we (or they in some cases) went house hunting, fixed stuff around the house, watched Jackson while we were at the hospital for two nights, went to Milburn Orchards, went to the Blue Rocks game, went to the "secret" duPont gardens by our house, went to Vivian's first photo shoot, went shopping, slept (a little), went to the playground, went to the parking lot so Jackson could ride his Hot Wheel.....and probably other things that I'm forgetting because I was in a post-baby fog.  We couldn't have done it without their help!

Soccer Saturdays

Jackson started instructional soccer a couple of weeks ago through the Delaware Rush league.  It's probably my favorite "class" that he's done so far - we all get outside, he really seems to like it and has made some new friends, and there it's pretty funny to watch a bunch of 3 and 4 year olds run around the field being told not to use their hands.  He has the full outfit - cleats, shin guards, umbro shorts and the "team" t-shirt with annoyingly large Chevy and Adidas logos.  He is definitely his father's son though - he doesn't really do what the coaches tell him to (e.g., put your head on the ball) and instead prefers kicking the ball and playing rough with his friend Darren.
